Fitness Questions From Our Members

  Slow Results

“I have been working out now for almost a year. When I first started training, I got results consistently. Now, my results have slowed down. Lately, I have barely had any changes. I haven’t stopped working out or increased my eating. What gives?”

Well, this sounds like you have possibly hit what’s called a “plateau.” Simply stated, a plateau is what happens when your body adapts to your program. Our body’s ability to adapt to the environment is what has allowed us to survive as a species; it is a genetic safety net. With your training, always keep in mind that adaptation is inevitable without program manipulation. What does this mean? Allow me to give you a simple example. Here is a simple chart of how cardiovascular manipulation would occur with the FITT principle (refer to the Welcome Packet available in your proshop).

Cory Couchpotato has begun a cardiovascular program in order to lose body fat. He has chosen 2 types of cardiovascular machines: The Star Trac Elliptical Edge and the Stair Climber.
